Mr. Doan Dac Khoa, Ph.D

vcsaSettled in Birmingham, UK as a boat person/refugee in 1986 where he was an active member in the Vietnamese community and the Vietnamese Boy Scout troop until 1988 when he moved to London to pursue a degree in Computer Science at Queen Mary College, University of London. In July 1990, Khoa was one of the few student delegates that founded the Free Vietnam Alliance in Paris, France under the leadership of Prof. Nguyen Vo Ky. Continued to be active in Vietnamese community and the Boy Scout after coming to Washington D.C on a post-doctoral fellowship in 1995 at University of Maryland at College Park, Khoa helped found VCSA DC chapter in 2003.Khoa obtained his BS and PhD both in Computer Science from University of London, and Heriot-Watt University of Edinburgh in 1991 and 1996 respectively. Professionally, Khoa was a System Architect and Principal Scientist at Global InfoTek Inc., Reston, VA. Khoa has over 12 years of experience as a technical lead, having worked with emerging and state-of-the-art software technologies (such as J2EE, XML, Web Services, Semantic Web [RDF, OWL-S], Workflows, Agents). He has served as a consulting architect in providing interoperability and Enterprise Application Integration solutions to clients in various industries. Recently he was instrumental in helping GlobalInfoTek win a multi-year contract of multi million values from DARPA as a chief engineer. In addition, Khoa has numerous publications in the field of object-oriented, web and database technologies. Currently Khoa is working as the Lead System Analyst at Navy Federal in Washington DC. Khoa is married to Tran Le and they just had a baby son Nguyen Khoa Bao.
