Len Duong'08 VASF Essay Contest

The Vietnamese American Scholarship Fund is a private 501-c(3) foundation established by a Vietnamese American who has been in the United States for more than 40 years (before and during the Vietnam War) and who uses his own savings to assist young people and scholars to pursue their field of interest. Awards are given only in a symbolic way.

VASF is having a contest to encourage Vietnamese youth overseas to think about how they can contribute to the country of their roots, Vietnam. There will be an Award in the amount of $1,000 given to the winner of this VASF contest, which requires the candidates to understand the current situation in Vietnam and active in the community. The participant needs to submit the following:

  1. A personal resume with contact information.
  2. An essay entry for the contest (the essay can be written in English or Vietnamese).
  3. Statement of your expectation at camp Len Duong 2008.
    • What: Vietnamese American Scholarship Fund Contest
    • Prize: One award worth $1,000.00
    • Deadline: April 22, 2008
    • Eligibility: Open only to those who plan to attend Len Duong camp 2008

Topic: What Vietnamese Americans/Canadians can do for the country of their roots: Vietnam?

  • Specification: Essay format (font size 12).
  • From 1000 words or more (double space).
  • Submit an application (download here).

The winner’s essay will be published in Len Duong camp program book and the winner will be asked to share with campers their main aspiration for choosing their topic.
